What Is It With The Old Dilapidated Barns?

By admin

Out in the midwest, (and probably elsewhere throughout the states) there are smatterings of old barns and farm buildings on properties. Why aren’t they just torn down? Is there some sort of tax write-off to having them?

Well old barns are normally some kind of landmark. A wooden structure can commonly last for 100 years, and even longer with regular repairs. So some of the barns you see may be older than the families that have them on their properties. Also, when people leave a piece of land they normally do not destroy everything on it before leaving.
Dilapidated barns have a lot of great uses too. Lot’s of dangerous animals make their homes in them. Teenages lose their virginity there, some people just use them to party. And lastly wandering homocidal bums camp out in them so they can rest up good before slaughtering hookers, and the unfortunate.
The real question is how could we possibly tear them down?
